A top-level report has revealed four out of 40 wards are more than a QUARTER of the city’s total recorded crimes. A total of 51,343 people reported being victims of at least one crime between October 1, 2011 and September 30 last year.
4 Ladywood wards – Ladywood, Nechells, Aston and Soho – had the highest levels of total recorded crime (TRC) during that period by ward, accounting for 26.4 per cent of all offences in the city.
The smallest crime fall was in Edgbaston – ranked eighth highest for crime in the city.
Most victims who reported more than 3 offences were female (72 per cent), 60 per cent were victims of domestic violence, which accounted for 30 per cent of repeat victims where 93 per cent were females.
Birmingham, according to the report, also performed well at reducing burglary, coming second only to Newcastle and ahead of Bristol.
However, despite reducing robbery by nearly 30 per cent, only Manchester had a worse per capita rate.
Total recorded crime was said to be for violence, criminal damage, vehicle crime, theft and burglary.
